Christmas is just around the corner and everywhere you go you are faced with treats. Whether you’re at your work’s Christmas party or the annual street get together, there will be a nibble that is perfect for your favourite tipple. However, some of us as are still trying to stick to our healthy eating and fitness plans, which can be incredibly difficult this time of year. If you’re wanting to stay away from the classic nibbles, crisps, nuts, frozen platters and sausage rolls, or you’re looking to spruce up your serving platter, jerky and biltong could be a great alternative for you.
Jerky and biltong are available in beef and salmon, so there is a flavour for all pallets. It’s meaty enough to pair with your favourite drink, and if you’re watching your waistline, prosecco is a good pairing choice as it’s low in calories (around 80 calories in a glass). Prosecco is traditionally served with cured meats such as prosciutto and charcuterie boards, so jerky and biltong are the perfect accompaniment for this popular fizz.
